Bunspace

Yup, I've been away. The bunnies are well, though... Hugo is now on bunspace and Miss Eve should join him soon. More on the successful bonding later...there will be many pics too!

Bonding breaking news!

Amy just sent me a text message to tell me that Casey has been grooming Hugo...how cute is it?? Now I cannot wait for the weekend to come so that I can have them both at home :) And in the meantime, here's for you a lovely video...

Out in the garden

It has been a lovely sunny and warm weekend in Nottinghamshire, and I took advantage of the situation to give the chance to meet on a neutral territory to Hugo and Casey. A week ago, Amy (another local bunny mum) came to us with Casey (a three-year-old Dutch bunny girl from Honeybunny's Rehoming Rabbit Rescue in Leicester) to try to bond her with Hugo. I have thought that this time, instead of having a completely spoiled single bun or single buns, I'd rather have a couple, so they both can be spoiled, and can keep each other company when work takes me away from them.



Unfortunately, unlike the first attempt, that ended with Casey running away (she was a bit scared by everything new, including this white bunny that kept on humping her...LOL!), Casey decided that the best defence is attack, and that she did, with Hugo's fur flying all over the place. I quickly picked her up and put her in the other run, lucky to have avoided blood being drawn. So, they had two hours in the sun, digging and sniffing at the green blades of grass, and in the case of Hugo, arrassing me to go back inside. I think he needs to get used to spend some more time outdoors!







So, tonight Amy is going to pick them up both and try the bonding at her house. I hope it goes well, otherwise we shall try Hugo out with another bunny girl. Keep your fingers and long limbs crossed for us (the bunnies may cross their ears, if they please), will you?

FO Danica

Danica (here in the inital stages) is finally done!
I did make some changes in the pattern...mine is wider (a triangle more) and has a fringe. It will be sent to my sisters, who wanted some entrelac when they saw the Lady E. I did for my mother.





Three more UFOs to work on now... I have promised not to cast on another project before I finish at least one of the three. Now, I just need some strength, because after receiving the latest Rowan Magazine I have added plenty of patterns on my to-do list on Ravelry...

More green stuff

I don't really want to upset bunnies that do not get so much veggie food, but I ought to explain that this is the typical aspect of the sink in our house when it's dinner time for the bunnies:

We went to a Volvo Owners Club meeting yesterday (my other half being a Volvo driver and such), and the day was to be split into two parts:

1. visit of a private classic cars collection (The Patrick Collection at Kings Norton, Birmingham)

2. visit of Cadbury's World

Whenever I get the chance to sit in a car, I knit. Or read. So, knitting I did, progressing nicely towards the end of Danica.
Once arrived at Kings Norton, there were plenty of nice old cars to look at. We had tea/coffee and shortbread or fruit cake, and after a small welcome speach of the curator of the museum, he invited those interested in a guided tour to follow him. For the ladies that don't want to listen to him going on and on about engines, pistons and such, he said, there were more coffee, tea and biscuits to be had, and...My other half, known Mr D then looked at me with a grin and said "do some knitting", when the curator finished saying: "...a few old knitting patterns to browse."! I thought he was joking, and he had heard Mr D's joke (he seems to think I am a bit too obsessed about knitting, LOL!) but no... the man in the museum wasn't joking. And what did I do? I made the best use of my digital camera and took pics of all the pages!

Fridges are for bunnies

I was instigated by The House of Rabbits at the other side of the pond to take a pic of our fridges to post on the blog. So far, only one picture could be saved from the 14 I took:



This fridge is in the garage, facing the run and hutch where 3 bunny girls live (mum and 2 daughters, permanently fostered here since April 2005).
I did not bother to take a pic of the upper section: it's the freezer and you won't see anything more interesting in it than a bowl of organic vanilla ice cream, lots of Linda McCartney veggie sausages, Quorn chilli hamburgers, more Quorn fillets, Quorn mince, and some frozen pain de campagne from Paul.
I am yet to take pics from the other fridge we have in the house, the one that contains the food for the bunny slaves, but it is much smaller. In spite of its size it is always half full of greens and carrots, much to the despair of my other half, the only meat eater in the house, who is always fighting to squeeze in the fridge an open portion of baked beans or stewed apples! Bad luck my dear....
